Foreword by Michael Cosgrave

My name is Michael Cosgrave. I am most fortunate to be the recipient of a double Lung Transplant. I received my transplant in early 2021. This transplant saved my life after a severe and rapid deterioration with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis over 2 months. It is a miracle that I’m here to tell the tale. I am very grateful.

I would like to give something back, in appreciation for the gift I received.  I am currently working with the HLT Team in the Mater hospital on several projects, such as the introduction of Smart TVs for patients, exercise equipment, a new lighting system and other vital medical equipment.  I have also raised over €332,000 for the Mater Hospital Foundation, a worthwhile charity, close to my heart.

Separate to the above, I am advocating for the production of a Medi-QRlink (Patient In Case of Emergency & Travel Card).  The card will assist paramedics and A&E staff, worldwide,  with vital lifesaving information, with further enhanced information, accessible by a QR code, immediately saving time etc.
